Workday Outage

Incident Report for Wentworth Institute of Technology

Postmortem

From Workday - Workday’s Private & Public Cloud Data Centers experienced login failures

On Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 11:20 AM PT, Workday’s automated monitoring system detected tenant login errors. Further analysis revealed that an error occurred while cleaning up obsolete static asset bundles from production. Static asset bundles contain non-tenanted content or resources, such as images, stylesheets, or scripts, which are used across Workday’s web application. This error incorrectly flagged active static asset bundles for deletion, which were then removed by our routine automated cleanup process. As a result, customers were unable to log into their tenants because the static assets required to render the login page were unavailable; users who were already logged in may not have been affected. At approximately 12:38 PM PT, deleted static asset bundles were restored and customers were able to login to their tenants
